How Much is That Cupcake in the Window?

This past week I've had both computer issues and then a power outage. Add in being super busy getting ready for my first new catalog event, and that equals a very neglected blog.! Sorry about the lack of posts. There's only a few more days left to order from the Occasions Catalog. I'm really glad I added the Another Great Year stamp set to my collection! It won't be available after June 1st...(along with many other great items). Here's a cute window card I made a while back using the little cupcake image.

I was so excited creating this card, but once completed it was an epic fail...I didn't have any SU! Window Sheets on hand, and instead created the window using a transparency sheet. After all my hard work creating this card it wouldn't stand up because the transparency sheet I used was too light weight & flimsy. In order to make it work, I had to alter my design.

I prefer the original design, but at least this way it stands on it's own. Note to self: Put Window Sheets on my next order! Here's a closer peak at the water colored cupcakes.

The little awning was created using the Word Window Punch and it adhered using mono adhesive at the top and Stampin' Dimensionals at the bottom. The added detail at the window frame was created using the Needlepoint Embossing Folder...which sadly is on the retiring list. Use it a lot to add a little extra detail.

Simple Monochromatic Birthday

With it's monochromatic color scheme and clean & simple design, this birthday card using Another Great Year is the perfect card for a guy. (at least I hope my son thinks so!)

I stamped the image twice...once onto the Island Indigo layer stamped with the hardwood background and again onto a plain piece of Bermuda Bay card stock. Each time I embossed the image using Pool Party Embossing Powder. I cut out the Bermuda Bay banner and watercolored the letters and the shadowed areas using Island Indigo ink and my Aqua Painter.

I popped up the banners using Stampin' Dimensionals and finished off the card with Candy Dots in each corner from the Brights Collection.

Flippin' Friday: Birthday Candle Wishes

It's Friday & I have a fun birthday flip card to share with you today!

These big birthday candles (Birthday Candles Jumbo Wheel) and bright, cheery colors from the Quatrefancy Specialty Paper make this card so much fun!

A little glitter applied to the flames for some added sparkle. (I used Dazzling Details brushed on with my Aqua Painter)

The "wish big" banner is from the Occasions Catalog set, Another Great Year. Here's a look at the flip side.

Cheers to Another Great Year!

Today I have a gift set to share with you...a hand painted wine glass with a coordinating card made for a friend.

I tried to match the colors used to paint the wine glass to SU! colors...so a few of the colors (and DSP) used are retired.

I used the fun Birthday Candles Jumbo Wheel to create the back ground on the Pixie Pink layer. I used paper piecing on both the large ribbon banner and the small banner to add detail. Here's a closer look...

The die cut label was stamped with an image from the new SAB set called You're Lovely, embossed in White EP and then die cut with the coordinating Deco Label Framelits.

I painted the candles with some of the same fun designs shown on the Birthday Candle wheel. I wrote, "it's my birthday and I'll drink if I want to!" around the glass. My friend really liked this set!

The large main image in the Another Great Year set made it easy to create a larger card than I normally make. I wanted it bigger because I put a 4x6 photo on the inside. I didn't photograph the inside because the photo of my friend was very unflattering, yet hilarious and she would kill me if I posted it anywhere! lol She laughed so hard when she opened card and read what I wrote that she was in tears. She said this card was definitely going in her special memory box.

Happy Birthday Chalkboard

Today is my hubby's birthday so I'm here to share the card I made for him using the new stamp set - Another Great Year from the Occasions Catalog.

Isn't this card fun!? I used the new Hardwood Background stamp to created the wood frame...stamped in White Craft onto Coastal Cabana and then cut into strips and sponged the edges in Crumb Cake. For added stability, each strip was glued onto strips of light weight chip board. The added thickness will insure that the legs stand up as well as creates a nice frame for the blackboard. I even created a stick of "chalk" out of tightly rolled Whisper White card stock.

After embossing the birthday banner image in white on Basic Black, I felt it needed some color and extra detail so I stamped it again in Black Stazon onto the fun new Sweet Sorbet DSP...which will be available during Sale-a-Bration, and did some paper piecing. Another one of the prints was used in the little banner created with Pennant Parade and the coordinating Petite Pennant Punch. The Natural Chevron Ribbon also used to create the banner is new as well and available in from the Occasions Catalog.
