Regal Indigo Pear Thanks

I want to start off todays post by saying thank you for the recent comments here on my blog. I've been having a real problem lately with spam comments, so it's nice to receive some legitimate comments. I've played with a few settings. so hopefully it will help a bit without having to add word verification moderation. I don't know about you...but sometimes those are really hard to read!

Here's a card with a color combo I've never used before. I had some scraps sitting in my work area and thought they looked good together and came up with this.

Like the title says, I used Regal Rose, Pear Pizzazz & Island Indigo...makes for a cheery, spring like color combo, don't you think? The flower image from Mixed Bunch was first inked in Baja Breeze and then rolled in Island Indigo along the edges of the stamp. The "Thanks" sentiment is from Kindness Matters...which is a FREE selection during SAB.

Just Believe Sunset

Unfortunately I had to take a break from my scrapbooking projects to make a sympathy card for a friend. It seems like the Just Believe set is one of my go to sets when creating a sympathy card. I thought it would look nice and peaceful to have a pretty sunset as the background...I really love the way this turned out. I hope it brings my friend some comfort.

I sponged on several different shades of Classic Ink onto my Whisper White card stock to create this background. First, was Daffodil Delight sponged inside of a circle I cut out of a post it note. Then I removed the post it mask and covered the yellow circle I had just sponged with a circle the same size - also punched from a post it. Then I sponged the sky surrounding the sun with Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, Perfect Plum, Regal Rose, Marina Mist and a bit of Always Artichoke as it got to the bottom, grassy area. After it was good and dry, I used my Embossing Buddy on top and then inked the image with VersaMark and heat embossed with Black EP.

The sentiment is from the new set Loving Thoughts available in the Occasions Mini. That was also embossed in black. Here's the complete recipe...

Mixed Bunch Snowflake

I have been finding the Mixed Bunch set to be a fun and very versatile set...especially this pretty lacy image used here. I showed you how I used it for a butterfly in this post...so I figured why not a snowflake?

I embossed it in Iridescent Ice EP on Glossy Card stock and then sponged on color using Baja Blue & Not Quite Navy Classic Ink. With it matted on the Silver Glimmer Paper the result is super sparkly. Take a closer look...

We're supposed to be getting up to 6 inches of snow here in the next 24 hours...so I'm sure I'll be seeing some real snowflakes soon.

Mixed Bunch Hugs

Here is a bright cheerful card using Mixed Bunch and the Hostess set Perfect Words. The DSP is of course the SAB papers Everyday Enchantment...which I just cannot stop using! I love this pop of Cherry Cobbler added to this color combo of Pool Party, Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzazz.

Besides the new Blossom punch that coordinates with Mixed Bunch, I used a few other punches to complete this card: Blossom Petals Builder, Extra Large Oval & the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punches.

Don't forget...along with this beautiful DSP, the Embossed Oval Frame shown here is also available for free during SAB! It comes as a set with a rectangular frame as well...LOVE these!

You Are Loved Heart Easel Card

Yesterday I promised I'd have a more feminine Valentine card to share with you. So here ya go...

This was created using the Big Shot along with the Heart Framelits Dies and my favorite stamp set from the Holiday Mini catalog...You Are Loved. (I'm hoping this one will show up in the next Idea Book & Catalog!) I was inspired to make a heart shaped easel card when I saw this cute card on SCS.

You cannot really tell from my photo, but I added Dazzling Details to both the heart & the love images for a little sparkle. The little button in the center of my bow is one of the new Twitterpated Buttons...they are so cute! Here's a peek at the inside of the card...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine...You're an 11

I had the worst migraine for several days...so unfortunately no computer time or stampin' time for me...just hanging out in the dark wanting to gouge my eyes out. Thankfully yesterday I felt good enough to make some Valentine cards. Here is one I created for my hubby.

When I create masculine cards I usually don't do bows or scallops...but couldn't help using the new Adorning Accents Edgelits with coordinating embossing folders and I just HAD to try out the new Heart Framelits...and of course the cutest one is the scalloped one! (plus someone challenged me to use it on a card saying it was too big and could only be used for scrapbooking.) I think it works here, but at just over 5 1/4" I'm sure I'll be using it more for scrapin'. As far as the bow...well...it just needed one! I think it's OK since it's Valentines Day, right?

At least the color combo of Cherry Cobbler, Basic Gray, Basic Black & Whisper White is quite manly. Along with the I {LOVE} Love Jumbo Wheel, I used the Hostess Set Perfect Words for the sentiment...emphasized with a Red Glimmer heart cut using the smallest of the heart framelits.

I have a little trick to share that I've been using to create more sizes to layer using the Framelits. Probably most of you have already thought of this, but in case I'll share anyways...See the Cherry Cobbler heart stamped with the wheel? That was cut using the 2nd largest heart framelit; but the Basic Gray layer behind it was cut by hand simply by tracing around the outer edge of the same framelit I used to cut the Cherry heart, since the cutting edge is on the inside edge of the die. So, if you don't mind a little hand cutting, using the framelits as a template is an easy option to create more layers.

Mixed Bunch Butterfly

I finally got my hands on the new set Mixed Bunch along with the coordinating Blossom Punch. I must say, this set is even more fun to play with than I thought it would be. In one stampin' session I created several fun things including this card.

I just loved the idea shown in the Occasions Mini where they created a butterfly using this set, so I had to try one of my own. I stamped the flower image onto Glossy White card stock in Versa Mark ink and embossed with Iridescent Ice EP. I punched out the image and then sponged on Melon Mambo & Island Indigo ink. The result is sparkly and colorful. Here's a closer look.

After sponging on my ink I simply cut away two of the petals to get this butterfly shape, added some Basic Rhinestones for the body and attached it to a Pear Pizzazz butterfly die cut using the Beautiful Butterflies die.

Brayered Lovely Trees

Still one of my very favorite sets after all these years...Lovely As a Tree. Even though it's one of my favorites, I hadn't used it in a while. I was inspired by this beautiful card I saw in the gallery at SCS to get it out and create this.

The background is brayered using Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze & Certainly Celery inks. I then used my Simply Scored tool to create some lines for added interest. The bottom of the Whisper White panel was cut using the new Edgelits Dies and then embossed with the coordinated embossing folder. Ribbon is Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding.

Elegant Apothecary Set

We celebrated my Mom's birthday over the weekend so I made her a special card along with a cute set of matchbox drawers to hold the gift of jewelry we gave her.

I cannot say enough about the gorgeous new set Apothecary Art...coupled with the coordinating Framelits, it sure makes for some beautiful projects. As you can see, I've been getting lots of use out of them!  Here's a closer look at the card.

I chose the colors Elegant Eggplant & So Saffron because my Mom loves those colors. I also added Wisteria Wonder for a nice contrast to the darker purple of the Eggplant. I used the same colors of Classic Inks to watercolor the image, which I first stamped in Basic Gray onto Very Vanilla card stock. The background is embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. Here's a closer look at the matchbox...

I of course cut this using my Big Shot and the Matchbox Die...so much easier than the way I used to make them...cutting and scoring from scratch! I cut them and then used the Love Blossoms wheel (a carry over item from the Holiday Mini) to stamp the box. As you can see, the jewelry fit perfectly inside the drawers. The "For You" label on the top of the box is the smallest of the Label Framelits.

My Mom just loved the set and I hope you do as well! One more day until Sale-a-Bration!!!

Elegant Tree

Unfortunately I had to make some sympathy cards this past week. Those are always difficult. I hope they brought some comfort to the recipients. Here is one of the cards I made using the Thoughts & Prayers set along with (retired) Elegant Soiree DSP.

As you can see I used a few new Big Shot Dies here...the Labels Framelits and the Adorning Accents Edgelits with the matching embossing folder. I also did some paper piercing and punched a small hole in each scallop for extra detail. Here's a closer look...

A Few of My Favorite Things

Today I have a card to share using a few of my favorites: my favorite new stamp set... Apothecary Art. Favorite new Big Shot item... the Labels Collection Framelits; and finally, one of my favorite color combos...Elegant Eggplant & Wisteria Wonder.

I think the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder really compliments this floral image nicely. The phrases from the Three Little Words set fit perfectly inside the frame. Here's a closer look at the water colored image.

New Year...New Stuff!

Happy New Year to you! May you be blessed in the coming year with much happiness, good health...and new stampin' goodies too! Here is a card I made with some of my new stampin' goodies.

I absolutely LOVE working with the new Framelits, Edgelits and the accompanying embossing folders, Adorning Accents...as you can see by my card! The Everyday Enchantment paper, a freebie during Sale-a-Bration 2012, totally rocks too! I chose my colors of Pool Party, Calypso Coral* & Lucky Limeade based on the colors of the paper.

* I originally stated here that the color used was Peach Parfait, which was incorrect...sorry about that! Guess I need to use those colors more so that I know the difference. ;-)

The Apothecary Art set that coordinates with the Labels Framelits, is so pretty and nice to watercolor. Since the paper is kind of distressed and toned down color wise in some spots, I think the Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding works fine since I didn't have any Lucky Limeade ribbon.

These products will all be available for you to order soon...starting January 4th the Occasions Mini begins and towards the end of the month, January24th, Sale-a-Bration starts...WOO HOO! my favorite time of the stampin' year!
