Flashback Friday - Retiring Favorites

This is the last Friday before the new catalog comes out so I thought it would be fun to do a flashback post sharing some of my favorite creations made with some of my most loved retiring stamp sets. So I don't "play favorites with my favorites", here they are alphabetically...

Big News - Fun sentiment stamps in a large size to be the focal point on your card.

Chalkboard grad card also uses Hardwood background (not retiring!) and Blue Ribbon (previously retired)

Big News is a fun set! My favorite image is the little WOO HOO! banner used on the card above...but the stamp I used the most in this set is the thank you stamp. It is the perfect size in a clear font that I found myself grabbing over and over.  The Zig Zag Embossing Folder used on this birthday card is also retiring. Corner Garden is so much fun to color!

This vibrant card was colored using the Blendabilities Markers...I miss those.

Festival of Trees along with the Tree Punch was a great pairing to make beautiful Christmas cards and much more.

 This Christmas card really sparkled.

This coordinated gift set was fun to make.

A Christmas flip card using the Circle Card Thinlits...which is also retiring.

I just loved making this Christmas Keepsake Pocket Album! There are a few new Christmas stamp sets in the new catalog...but I always look forward to the Holiday Catalog to see all the fun new Christmas and Halloween stamps.

Perfect Peacock  is a beautifully detailed single stamp. If you love to color you need this stamp!

Serene Silhouettes Is a beautiful set for any occasion. 

I especially loved using it for the emboss resist technique. Shown on the anniversary card above and on the birthday card below.

It's not a stamp set, but the Spiral Flower Die has been one I have used quite often for a variety of projects...and to think at first I thought I didn't need it! More info on the Sweet Sorbet Topiary here.

Swallowtail - Who doesn't love butterflies? This stamp is larger than life and so very detailed.

World of Dreams - I absolutely love this set and have used it a lot.

The "thank you" sentiment is from the Big News set. I used that stamp quite often.

The Sky is the Limit!

I used the World Map background stamp to create the background on the Crumb Cake layer and another new set called Timeless Textures to create the background on the Island Indigo layer. If you love to create texture and backgrounds, this new set of 9 different textures is a must have!

To finish off my card I used an Antique Brad and Chevron Ribbon to embellish, yet still keep the card masculine looking.

One of my favorite new catalog sets is Traveler. I love all the vintage style images perfect for masculine cards or vacation scrapbook pages. Here's a masculine card that my local customers had the opportunity to create when they picked up their new catalogs last week. It is suitable for any occasion.

The World Map background stamp seems to go hand in hand with the images in this set. It's shown here stamped in Basic Gray onto it's coordinating card stock. The polaroid frame from the On Film Framelits frames this image well. The Epic Day Washi Tape makes the perfect embellishment. The embossed stripes of the frame along with the stripes on the washi tape remind me of railroad tracks, so I really like the way this turned out.

World Traveler Dad

I've had the World Map stamp on my wish list since it was first available in the last catalog, but it wasn't until I saw the new Traveler set that I knew I just had to have it! Here is my first card using both of these.

The Traveler set will be available from the new catalog in just a couple weeks. It's a great set with realistic, vintage pen and ink renderings perfect for creating manly cards. I watercolored this image of the globe using my aqua painter and classic inks.

The World Map background was colored simply by sponging...I used a combination of Sponge Daubers and Stampin' Sponges. The Sponge Daubers made it easier to get along the edges of there the water meets land...but the bigger sponges made it much quicker...so the combination worked well. The sentiment was printed on my computer onto Lost Lagoon card stock. I also used another new In Color...Mossy Meadow for the base and mat for the globe. I really love working with these new colors!

This past week while making room for my new colors and finding a spot for retiring items I ended up on a re-organizing frenzy! So far I've reorganized my 12 x 12 card stock, 8-1/2 x 11 card stock and all my DSP. When I say, "all of it" I mean not only my SU! DSP, but everything from other companies as well. I've "collected" a lot of it with future scrapbook pages in mind. I even found some really old single sided papers (remember when paper only had one side???) that I don't know what I was thinking when I purchased them! lol Hopefully I'll have some clean and reorganized workspace photos to share soon.
