Dragonfly Dreams & Butterfly Basics

Here's a card that looks detailed and time consuming but it was actually fairly quick and easy to make.

The ferns from Butterfly Basics were stamped onto Whisper White cardstock and then ran through the Big Shot using the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder. The dragonfly, from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, is a 2 step image so the hand colored look is easily achieved by using the second solid layer over the detailed image. I like to use a sponge dauber to apply a second, darker color to the solid image before stamping.

The "thanks" sentiment is from the Jar of Love stamp set and was die cut using the Stitched Shape Framelits. To finish off the card I ran a piece of 1/4" Copper Trim across bottom and attached the die cut sentiment piece and dragonfly with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I used only two ink pads...Lemon Lime Twist & Tranquil Tide.

Have a great weekend!

Sugarplum Dragonfly Dreams

When I design the cards featured in my card classes I try to keep the cards fairly simple, yet still have pretty details to make them interesting. This card using the beautiful Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and it's coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlets was one of the four cards created at my last All Occasions Card Class.

I just love the color combo of Sweet Sugarplum, Fresh Fig with a pop of Berry Burst. The detailed layer of the 2-step dragonfly image was stamped in Fresh Fig, and the solid image used to add color to the wings was sponged with color to give a blended look. You cannot tell from my photo, but the wings have beautiful shimmer from the Wink of Stella used over the top of the wings.

The sentiment was stamped in Basic Black and set off with a strand of Black Mini Sequin Trim...isn't this new trim fun? The dragonfly sits on a Whisper White background layer textured with the awesome Hexagon Embossing Folder.

Inside the Lines Dragonfly

I can't believe that Sale-A-Bration is already drawing to an end for another year! If you have not placed your orders...please do ASAP so you don't miss out. You could choose the Inside the Lines DSP as your FREE item. I used it here on this card.

The intricate dragonfly was cut using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits. The detailed layer was cut from Sweet Sugarplum Glimmer Paper (sold out) and the solid layer from Vellum Cardstock. I then sponged the vellum with colors used when coloring the Inside the Lines DSP on the bottom half of card. Here's a closer look...

The embossed background was created using the Hexagons Dynamic Textured EF...it's my new favorite embossing folder!

Inside the Lines Poppies

I sat down the other night and finally did some watercoloring using the Watercolor Pencils and Inside the Lines DSP. It's so relaxing to sit and color. My favorite sheet in the pack is this poppy patterned piece.

I used my Aqua Painter and Calypso Coral, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay & Daffodil Delight pencils. After I was done I used Wink of Stella on the bees wings and on the center of each flower. The sentiment, from Dragonfly Dreams, is embossed in Gold Embossing Powder on Vellum. The pretty lace trim along the edge is an image from the Delicate Details stamp set embossed with White Embossing Powder. Gold 1/8" Ribbon finishes off this card.

Don't miss out...

There's only a couple more days to place your Sale-A-Bration order and get the Inside the Lines DSP, Delicate Details stamp set or any of the other great products available through March 31st. Place your order with me and use the Hostess Code: 3HR4GYDR and I will send you out a card kit to create 3 beautiful cards as an extra bonus from me.

Stained Glass Dragonfly Dreams

The intricate dragonfly die featured in the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits is perfect for the stained glass technique.

I had the background panel using the Hardwood Background and Awesomely Artistic already created from a previous stampin' session, so all I needed to do was add the dragonfly and a sentiment for a quick card. (I shared another version of this card here)

The detailed dragonfly die cut was cut from Basic Black cardstock and the solid layer behind it was cut from Vellum Cardstock. I sponged some color onto the Vellum and adhered it behind the intricate die cut. Then I painted the entire piece with my Clear Wink of Stella Brush Pen for some beautiful shimmer. You can kind of see it in this close up photo, but it's so much prettier in person!

I added a few small rhinestones to the floral background and the card was complete. Thanks for stopping by today!

Dragonfly Dreams Thank You

I shared a card very similar to this one a few weeks back. I had created several of the background panels at that time, but I decided to add the beautiful intricate die cut dragonfly to this one.

I used the the stained glass technique by cutting a solid piece from Vellum Cardstock and sponging it with a couple colors used on my background panel before adhering it to the back of the Rich Razzleberry dragonfly.

Using the Wink of Stella Brush I added some beautiful sparkle to the dragonfly.

The inside of the Sahara Sand card base along with the envelope were stamped with the Delicate Details stamp set (FREE during Sale-A-Bration).

I used many different stamp sets and colors to stamp the collage look background panel: Avant Garden (FREE during Sale-A-Bration), Timeless Textures, Gorgeous Grunge Butterfly Basics.

Colors used: Mint Macaron, Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum, Always Artichoke & Sahara Sand.

Please visit my SU! Store to purchase the products you will need to create many amazing projects with the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle. When you spend $50 you can choose the Avant Garden stamp set, used here for FREE. (There are also many other great products you can choose from as well). I appreciate all orders, and make sure to send a hand stamped card, such as this one, to all who place an order with me.

Enjoy your day! We are finally seeing some sunshine here in Michigan today...it's been far too long!

Awesomely Artistic Dragonfly Dreams

Here's a card which uses a few of my favorite stamp sets...Awesomely Artistic, Dragonfly Dreams and Hardwood. I think they all work really well together.

I used Whisper White (thick & regular) along with Pool Party Cardstock. Ink colors used are: Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo, Emerald Envy & Smokey Slate.

Check out this great video from Stampin' Up! that shows some other awesome projects you can creat using items from the new Occasions Catalog.

Please visit my online store if you would like to purchase SU! merchandise to recreate the card I've shared above or any of these great projects shown in the video.

Avant Garden Dragonfly Dreams

In my last post I stated if I could only purchase one bundle from the upcoming Occasions Catalog it would be the Lift Me Up Bundle...running neck and neck for that top position is the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle! After playing with both, now I can't really say which I would choose if I could only pick one...they are both pretty awesome!

I had some fun using several new products to create this collage look card. The left side of the panel is stamped with one of the beautiful lacey images from the Delicate Details stamp set. This is a FREE set during Sale-a-Bration! It includes 5 border images. The flowers stamped at bottom right are from another Sale-a-Bration set called Avant Garden...so is the pretty leaf stem.

I also used several old collage style favorites to complete this card...Timeless Textures, Gorgeous Grunge and Butterfly Basics. The dragonfly's wings were painted with Wink of Stella for some pretty iridescent shimmer.

While I was at it,  I also stamped a version using Very Vanilla cardstock instead of Whisper White. There are a few other slight differences as well.

I added the birthday sentiment as well as the distressed grid element from Timeless Textures to the background in a few spots.

Both cards have a Sahara Sand base and used  Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum, Mint Macaron, Always Artichoke & Sahara Sand inks.

Which version do you like best?
