Favorite Layout From the Crypt

Happy Friday everyone! Time for another Stamp Something Challenge. Sadly this will be my last one as part of the design team. To stay in compliance with the new policy by Stampin' Up!, I had to step down...but I still plan to play along every chance I get! This week, continuing on with our "favorites" theme, you'll need to stamp something using a favorite layout or sketch. So I dragged out my favorite new Halloween set from the crypt. OK, so I didn't really drag it out from the crypt...the set is actually called From the Crypt.;-)

I'm always drawn to designs that feature a circular main image and lots of opportunity to use several different patterned papers, so I decided to give this sketch from Mojo Monday another shot.
I stamped the skull and spider images on Glossy card stock using Black StazOn, then I sponged on colors found in the Cast-a-Spell Designer papers...Pumpkin Pie, Perfect Plum & Certainly Celery.
I love to use my round scallop dies to create mats for my circles, but thought a jagged edge circle would look more appropriate on a spooky Halloween card, so I cut it once, then ran it back through my Big Shot after turning it just slightly on the die to create the jagged edge. To finish off my design I used some Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain ribbon and a bit of black fun fur yarn to lend another spooky touch.

Razzleberry Roses

Good morning! I turned around and it's Friday again! That means it's time for another Stamp Something Challenge! Continuing with this months favorites theme...this weeks challenge is to use your favorite color combo and/or favorite papers. I used both for my card.
I love the Razzleberry Lemonade papers and the beautiful colors used in them...especially the Rich Razzleberry, so it was a pretty easy choice to pick these papers along with Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry for my fav color combo...today anyways! ;-)

I used the Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder and my Big Shot to create the main image. I used my brayer inked first with Pale Plum and rolled lightly over the embossed image. I went back with both Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry adding layers of ink until I was happy with the color. If you want to see a great tutorial on how to do the brayered roses, you should visit Patty Bennett's Blog . That is where I first saw this wonderful idea.

Also used for this card: Oval All stamp set with Scalloped Oval Punch, Organza Ribbon, Rhinestone brad, and the mat pack with Paper Piercing tool to add the piercing around the edge.

Embellished Circle Circus

It's Friday! You know what that means? Time for a Stamp Something challenge! This week we are continuing on with our favorites theme, and to play along you just need to stamp something and use your favorite embellishment(s). For me, it's hard to pick just one embellishment...but if pressed, I guess it would be ribbon. I LOVE the new polka-dotted grosgrain ribbon and I also love using brads...so that is what I used for embellishments on my card for this weeks challenge.

I had part of a "one sheet wonder" sitting on my desk I had stamped back when the pre-order stuff first came in using this years In Colors, so I used that. Circle Circus is a great set to stamp a one sheet wonder. I also love to use my punches to create embellishments. I used a couple of my circle punches and punched out the large Razzleberry circle, layered it and embellished it with a Filigree Brad and a Certainly Celery brad in the center. That's what I really like about the Filigree brads...you can use the silver brads that come with them or swap out a colored or rhinestone brad to match your project.

Basket of Birthday Flowers

It's Friday...and time for another Stamp Something Challenge! This week to play along, you just need to stamp something using your favorite stamp set or image. I chose my fav new stamp set from the new catalog...Peace Within.
I water colored the image using my aqua painter and various colors of classic ink. The little birdie was stamped twice, cut out and popped up. I used my Big Shot and Perfect Details Texturz Plate to add texture to the background. I also cut the scallop using my Nestabilities set, the tag using Lots of Tags Sizzlet and the flower using the Daisies 2 die. I also used a few punches: Small Oval, Word Window and the Boho Blossoms to cut the center of my flower.

Card stock: Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla & Razzleberry Lemonade DP.

More Cow Bell

It's Friday...so that means it's time for another Stamp Something Challenge! This weeks theme is stamp something with an animal theme. Digital Delights by Looby Lou is our sponsor this week so I chose one of her cute images from the new Farmyard Collection.

This is a digital image, so I printed it twice...once on Whisper White and again on a piece of Thoroughly Modern designer paper so I could paper piece his spots and legs. The rest of the image I water colored.

Accessories: Soft Suede polka-dot grosgrain ribbon, Vintage brads, Photo Corner, Modern Label & Word Window punches, and a little cowbell I had in my stash.

Birthday Somethings

It's Friday again...and that means another Stamp Something Challenge! This week you must stamp something with a birthday theme, so I pulled out my new set Fifth Avenue Floral and stamped a feminine birthday card.
I embossed the ruffly cosmos images with White Embossing powder and water colored with my Aqua Painter and re-inkers to match the colors of the Razzleberry Lemonade papers. The "happy birthday" greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.

Paper Pieced Something

I just love the way paper piecing adds such nice detail to stamped images, so I was delighted to see that our challenge this week at Stamp Something is to use the paper piecing technique. I haven't used my Blooming Beautiful set in a while and I figured the vase would be perfect for some paper piecing.

I used a nice sketch from Mojo Monday and some of my favorite new papers...Thoroughly Modern to create this card. I also used: Rich Razzleberry & Soft Suede card stock, Rich Razzleberry Polka-dot Grosgrain, Nestabilities Scalloped Circle die, Coluzzle & Dew Drops.

Razzleberry Wings

This has been a busy week! Cannot believe that it's already Friday and time for the Stamp Something challenge. This weeks theme is Winged Things. So if your image has wings...be it a butterfly, bug, or fairy...it qualifies. So go Stamp Something!

I just love, love, love the Razzleberry Lemonade papers...the patterns, colors and even the name is just delicious! I paired it up here with the Great Friend set. I was happy to see this set from the Occasions catalog make it into the new catalog. I inked the butterfly in Melon Mambo and rolled it into the Rich Razzleberry.

Thoroughly Modern Monkey

This week at Stamp Something the challenge is...Sketch Something! We have a great sketch to inspire you, so I hope you'll play along. We worked with some great images this week by Dustin Pike. I chose one of his cute images called Cupcake Monkey, but it really was hard to chose because he has some really cute designs. Make sure to check out what the rest of the design team created this week. Along with the Cupcake Monkey digital image, I used some new papers by Stampin' Up! called Thoroughly Modern. I also used the Perfect Details Texturz plate on the background...lovin' that thing! After coloring each sprinkle on the cupcake with my markers, I highlighted them with my white gel pen.

You make me smile

This weeks challenge at Stamp Something is a color challenge...stamp something using the color combo of pink, yellow and green. The sponsor is Peachy Keen Stamps, so I got the pleasure of using an adorable smiling flower image from their set called Funny Flowers. They have some super cute images,and generously donated a $40 gift certificate which will go to a lucky winner who plays along this week.
I water colored the cute flower and then added some shimmer using a stardust jelly roll pen along the edges of the image. While it was still wet I blended it with my aqua painter. I also used Crystal Effects on the lady bugs.

The ribbon is So Saffron grosgrain with a sheer pink polka dotted ribbon layered over the top. With the pink, yellow green color combo, using one of my favorite SU! paper packs - Tea Party was a no-brainer. I also used some retired Pretty in Pink designer print paper as well. The "you make me smile" sentiment was perfect for this image I thought...it is from the Lots of Thoughts set that was available during SAB one year.

Christmas in July

This week at Stamp Something the challenge is Christmas in July, sponsored by FireCracker Designs. I was sent an adorable penguin image to work with. Since the 4th of July holiday is this weekend, I decided to go with a red, white & blue color scheme. I dry embossed my background using a snowflake texture plate by Fiskars and my Big Shot. I mixed a little Dazzling Diamonds with some Crystal Effects and coated the snowballs and added a dot in the center of each snowflake on the red layer for some real sparkle.

The Merry Christmas tag was done using the new SU! set Teeny Tiny Wishes layered using the Word Window & Large Oval punches along with one of the label die cuts from the Lots of Tags Sizzlets. It's tied onto the ribbon using silver cording.

Embellish Something

This weeks challenge at Stamp Something is to Embellish Something...using at least three different embellishments on your project. The sponsor is My Little Ribbon shop, who donated the gingham ribbon and Cosmo Cricket chipboard button piece shown on my project below. It was the chipboard button and die cut "you make me smile" piece that inspired me to create this page.

The print on the button is the same color as the new Baja Breeze, and Baja Breeze makes me think of the beach. The beach makes me think of the Lazy Days wheel & Just Beachy set, and how I haven't made any scrapbook pages with these sets yet...so I dug out these photos of my son when he was an adorable five year old enjoying a day at the beach. (he's now a handsome 18 year old who can be quite a parenting challenge at times...so it's good to occasionally look back on those "cute years". I'm sure all you Mom's of teens can relate! lol) Anyways...his beach towel not only had a shade of teal which I planned to use for the background, but also Melon Mambo... score! I think this makes a perfect fun in the sun, beachy color scheme.

I also used: 12x12 Textured Taken With Teal & Basic Black card stock,Taken With Teal Craft ink, Photo Corner & Cute & Curly Label punches. (the little brackets were made using the Cute & Curly punch) The letters were cut using the Big Shot and the Go Slim Bigz dies. I also tried out a circle cutting tool I picked up after watching a demo at a scrapbook convention I recently went to. It's called the Kreaxions Circle Cutter. It works like a compass, so you can cut any size circle you want just by adjusting the setting. It sure made it easy to cut the rings I used on my layout. The best part is that it only cost 10.99.

Today looks like another hot one...too bad I won't be spending it at the beach! I'm sure I will make time to hop in the pool for a while. Stay cool, enjoy your weekend...and go embellish something!

Black & White Plus One

The challenge this week at Stamp Something is to use Black & White plus one color. The sponsor is Paper Makeup Stamps and we got to pick out one of their images to use for this challenge. I chose this fun dancing dinosaur skeleton.For my one color I chose a new Stampin' Up! In Color - Bermuda Bay. The background was embossed with a Sizzix texturz plate & the Big Shot. I also did faux stitching around the edges on the black layer, but no matter how I photographed this card I couldn't get it to show up.

Working with digital images is all new to me, and at first I had some trouble getting my image to print in the size I wanted, so I made another card just in case. So I'll show you that card too.
This one uses the set Garden Whimsy and the small polka-dot texturz plate for the background. Have a nice weekend! Don't forget to Stamp Something...black & white plus one!

Morning Soft Sketch

I loved the sketch for yesterdays Stamp Something Challenge so I used it again to make this card using one of my favorite retiring stamp sets - Morning Soft.
The image is watercolored using classic inks and aqua painter on Shimmery White card stock. I used some retired Designer Print Paper in Almost Amethyst & Wild Wasabi along with Elegant Eggplant. I'm lovin' that color combo together. The ribbon is White Organza set off with one of the new Jumbo Grommets from the Occasions Mini.

Sketch Something

This week on Stamp Something the challenge is to Sketch Something! There is a great sketch to work with, so I hope you'll play along! I liked the sketch so much that I made two cards. The first card I will show you today uses a great image from Dog Gone Stamps - the sponsor this week for the Stamp Something Challenge. The other card I created uses one of my favorite retiring SU! stamp sets...and you'll have to stop back by tomorrow to see that one. ;-)

Don't you just love this giraffe!? I was super excited when I saw that this was the image I got to work with this week! It was a little bit of a challenge however to fit this long, rectangular image into the square space as shown in the sketch. I had to cut some of the poor guys long neck off to make it work. He was super fun to color. I stamped him in Basic Brown and used SU! Classic inks and my aqua painter. When I was finished coloring I used my Linen Background stamp (retired) inked in Creamy Caramel to add a little texture. The DSP's I used are retired papers from the Haiku & Frosty Days packs. I sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink to age them.

I used Antique Gold HPH along with Chocolate Chip grosgrain. I tied hemp cord and more Chocolate Chip grosgrain onto the hardware and frayed it for a different, more rustic texture.

Something Old Something New...

That is the challenge today on the Stamp Something Challenge Blog. For me, the something new is being a part of the design team for starters! This will be my first card as part of the team. We were to use digi images from the set Here Comes the Bride from My Grafico to create our cards...that is also new to me. I've never worked with digi images before.I started by printing the images I wanted onto Shimmery White card stock. Sticking with the challenge of something old...I used one of my favorite old retired colors - Soft Sky...I thought that was fitting with this theme as "something blue" goes right along with this, right? However, I didn't use anything borrowed tho. LOL The "Mr. & Mrs." phrase came from the Fancy Flexible Phrases set. (retired)

The embossed background is also Shimmery White card stock embossed with my Big Shot and the Flourish Texturz Plate. I wish you could see how sparkly this is in real life...I used a dot of Stickles on each scallop and inside each swirl on the cake. I really would have loved to use rhinestones on the cake but I didn't have any small enough, so I had to settle just using them on the cake stand. The ribbon is White Organza set off with a flower and rhinestone brad from the Pretties kit.
