Golden Vintage Leaves Set

I really cannot believe that we are already more than a week into September! School is back in session and soon fall will be here. During this past month, even though the weather has been warm, it has already seemed like fall in my studio. That's because I've been busy creating a home decor set which is just perfect for the upcoming season. I'm so excited to finally be able to share it with you!

My autumn themed coordinating set combines elegant metallic gold with the rustic textures of wood and burlap. Add in a mixture of lifelike autumn leaves created using the Vintage Leaves stamp set and Leaflets Framelits and you have a stunning set perfect for fall decorating.

Thanksgiving is coming up and these pieces work well together or can be used as individual gifts…especially the wine bottle tag. Cozy Christmas Ornament

I absolutely love the beautiful, intricate detail of the new Delicate Ornament Thinlits Dies...especially when cutting the foil papers! Here I've paired it with the Home For Christmas DSP and the Cozy Christmas stamp set.

I really like all the patterns in the Home For Christmas DSP pack because there are classic foliage patterns as shown here along with absolutely darling vintage patterns including adorable fawns that look like Bambi, cute Santas and more...cannot wait to work with these papers some more!

On the center of the ornament is one of the new Iced Rhinestone Embellishments. They are really pretty! You get two sizes, and I used the smaller one here. The die cut ornaments are a great size to use for gift tags...which I am planning to do.

A Little Something Tree

I finally got my Holiday Catalog pre-order last week, but every little bit of stamping time I've had recently has been working on some projects for an upcoming tutorial. I can't wait to share that with you! But for now here is a card that I sneaked in...

I was super excited to try this cool new Woodland Embossing Folder! There is a stamp set that coordinates with it, (it even comes in a bundle) but I had so many other great new things on my order that I had to take the stamp set off my list or break my stampin' budget. Luckily the Square Pillow Box Thinlit Die has some adorable little accessory dies that comes with it...including the leaves that I used here.

I sponged the trees and the leaves with a Sponge Dauber. The "Thinking of You" sentiment is from the A Little Something stamp set, which coordinates with the Pillow Box Die. The die set also includes the square label that the sentiment is on...there is a larger size as well, enabling you to cut a window in the pillow box if desired and to create tags as well.

The ribbon is the backside of the Natural Chevron Ribbon layered with Gold Sequin Trim.

Tomorrow is September 1st...hard to believe! It is the start of the Holiday Catalog...and you are going to love what is available!

Inspirational Watercolor Wings

I'm really loving the new thicker weight Whisper White card stock. It worked great for this watercolor background technique even when spritzing with water.

I used Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo & Tangerine Tango for the Watercolor Wings butterfly and to ink the largest SU! acrylic block for the background as well. If you want to learn more about this technique I describe it step by step in this post.

I spritzed the butterfly with some Shimmer Mist for a bit of sparkle...it looks so pretty when the light hits it.

Dragonfly Birthday

Recently my Mom asked me if I could make her a dragonfly birthday card. She makes beautiful quilts, purses and tote bags and she had made a bag for a gift. I asked her for some of the fabric so that I could try to match the colors. Here was my inspiration.

This is the card I created for her using the Awesomely Artistic stamp set.

To match the colors as best possible, I had to pull out some retired purples to create the background. I used the largest SU! Clear Mount Block F and inked it with the following colors: Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizzazz, Orchid Opulence, Lavender Lace and Melon Mambo. After spritzing it with water I inked my Whisper White card stock. I added some splotches in various colors used above while the card stock was still damp, so the colors would bleed.

After it thoroughly dried, I added the dragonflies and the floral design. If you want to see more detailed directions on this technique, I provided them here on this post.

Watercolor Wings Anniversary

I've been busy enjoying the beautiful weather and good times of summer that I haven't been able to spend a whole lot of time stamping...my poor stamps and blog are so neglected! I needed to make an anniversary card last week so I'm here today to share that card. I used a pretty butterfly stamped using the Wonderful Wings set and combined with elements from the Butterfly Basics set.

A smaller butterfly die cut out of Gold Glimmer Paper and a Vintage Faceted Button help make this card extra special.

Wild About Flowers Thanks

I really love how user friendly the Wild About Flowers set is! Since the blossoms are separate from the stems and leaves its so easy to stamp all different colors of flowers. Lining them up is super easy since it's a photopolymer set.

I added a little shading to the stamps by first inking them in the lightest color and then using a sponge dauber I added a darker color. So for the flowers, first ink in Calypso Coral and then add Rich Razzleberry. For the leaves I used Wild Wasabi first and then Mossy Meadow.

Best Thoughts

The beautiful large hydrangea image takes center stage on this simple card. The Best Thoughts set is one of the great host sets you can choose from in the new annual catalog.

I used my Aqua Painter and Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum and Lost Lagoon inks to color the flower and butterfly...it was so much fun to color! Thanks for bringing this set to our "play date" Rachel!

Colorful Birthday Blossoms

I'm loving the Birthday Blossoms set for quite a few reasons...first, the largest flower coordinates with the Pansy Punch...LOVE that! There is a set of pretty leaves...YES! The clusters of tiny flowers makes such a pretty background...AND the font used on the sentiments is just so pretty!

I inked up an acrylic block and misted it with water to create my background. The colors I used are: Pool Party, Cucumber Crush, Crushed Curry & Watermelon Wonder. More on that can be seen in this post.

Pretty Pink Peony

I've been busy coloring these beautiful flower from the You've Got This set.

I masked the flower portion of this image before stamping the background in Crumb Cake ink. Since the Crumb Cake ink is fairly light, it blended fine with the Wild Wasabi ink I used to watercolor the stem & leaves. Sponging the Typeset Specialty Paper gives this card more of a vintage feel.

Grandma's Elegant Peony

Peonies are one of my favorite flowers. I'm sure it's because during my childhood, every year when my Grandma would come to visit for my birthday, she would bring a huge bouquet of beautiful peonies for my Mom. She had many different colors growing in her garden and they bloomed during the beginning of June just in time for my birthday. My favorite color she grew were a deep raspberry red color...which was the inspiration for this card.

I used Rose Red along with a little bit of Blackberry Bliss for shading. I masked the blossom part of the flower (but didn't worry about the leaves) before stamping the crosshatch background inked in Crumb Cake. You can read more about my experimenting with this background and flower in this previous posting (or keep scrolling down).

The background panel uses a pattern from the Typeset DSP along with the Boho Chic Embossing Folder. I added a strip of Gold Satin Ribbon to finish it off..BUT after looking at my finished creation I wondered if it needed an extra little something. So I made a bow...

The center of the bow is gathered up with a strip of Basic Black Card stock secured with Glue Dots. Then I added some Basic Pearls. Which version do you prefer? I'm still undecided. I guess my decision will be made when I give it to the intended birthday person...if I see her in person I'll leave the bow, if I need to mail it, then the flatter version would be better.
